Sandstone-base architectural home

Random-coursed sandstone base under a timber-clad upper level.

A random-coursed sandstone base under a timber-clad upper level. Every stone hand-fitted, tight joints, no two faces the same.

01

Stone selection

Each stone hand-picked off the pallet for face and corner. The corners were the priority. Clean returns mean the random coursing in between reads as deliberate.

02

Coursing the random

Random coursing only works if the courses themselves are level. Set a level course every metre, then fill between with the random fitting. Anyone who tells you it's all freehand hasn't done one.
